As a requester, how and how much should I control who participates in my Surveys?

For your salary data to be as useful as possible, requesters can — and should — limit access by controlling how its invitation link is distributed and to whom they give an invite token.

How it works

Salary Confidential's special sauce relies on creating highly focused surveys. The goal is that a requester understands where every data point could come from -- they know exactly to whom they have reached out -- even if they don't know exactly who has responded what, or if they have responded at all (That's the 'confidential' part of it all)

That's another way to say: requesters should invite specific individuals whose inclusion would make the dataset meaningful and valuable because it's highly focused on a specific peer group

You control distribution: share the link directly with the peers you’ve identified along with an invite token. We don’t recommend posting it on social media — that undermines precision. (Someone only loosely related could submit data and occupy a respondent slot you intended for a closer peer. They will also make any statistical calculations less useful)

The Outreach interview helps you craft a strong, personalized message. The best channels are LinkedIn private messages or direct email.
